Laptop Orchestra

Founded by myself and Dan Trueman in 2011, DubLork is a collective that focuses on bringing theatricality and physical presence into electronic music performance. The group has collaborated with ensembles including This Is How We Fly, Yurodny, Crash Ensemble, and the RTE National Symphony Orchestra. DubLork has also created numerous site-specific performances for galleries, such as Temple Bar Galleries & Studios, the Royal Hibernian Academy, Market Studios, The Backloft, and the Irish Museum of Modern Art.

The video above is a documentary by Myles O'Reilly (Arbutus Yarns) that follows the creation of a show between us and the contemporary folk group This Is How We Fly at Smock Alley Theater, Dublin.

Below is a video of my piece Foxhunters that was part of the project Scilens, a collaboration with the traditional group Yurodny that aimed to connect trad/folk music with gestural technology. Tapping on the laptop keyboard creates rhythms reminiscent of Irish dancers and the speed/velocity that the keys are tapped effects the quality and intensity of the rhythms.
