Alex Dowling is an Irish composer that focuses on combining, and performing with, acoustic and electronic instruments. He is currently working on electronic vocal music where he repurposes effects such as autotune to find strange and undiscovered directions for these processes.

He has had works performed by groups including the Irish RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, Crash Ensemble, Prism Saxophone Quartet, orkest de ereprijs, and Mivos String Quartet. He has written music for laptop orchestra (after founding the Dublin Laptop Orchestra in 2011), theater, and his audiovisual installation Bodysnatcher was exhibited at the Eyebeam Gallery, NY and toured many other countries. He has also written and produced albums for his band Games Violet. Awards include the ASCAP Morton Gould Young Composer Award, Jerome Hynes Composer Award, and the West Cork Chamber Music Composition Award. He is currently completing a PhD in music composition at Princeton University.
